About

My name is Joshua Rubin, and I’m a South African documentary filmmaker, photographer and podcast host. I began my career in documentary photography before documenting South Africa throughout the Covid 19 lockdown, with that work being shared around the world. In 2021, I launched The Wide Awake Podcast, where I’ve interviewed everyone from internationally recognised figures such as Hunter Biden and Errol Musk to former gang members, activists and ordinary South Africans with extraordinary stories.
